Join us for an exciting day filled with cutting-edge geospatial technology, hands-on experiences, competitions, career insights, and prizes—including a chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card for two of the GIS Day attendees! This is your chance to dive into the world of GIS, connect with industry experts, and discover how geospatial solutions are driving a smarter, more resilient world!

Event Highlights:

Student competitions: Showcase your skills and compete for $300 in Amazon gift cards! Prizes will be awarded to winners in two categories:

  • Geovisualization Competition (Graduate/Undergraduate students)
    • Create a map that facilitates thinking, understanding, and knowledge construction about human and physical environments
    • Submit your map here: https://forms.gle/cJHCMbMkbUGbP3cQ8
    • Submission deadline: November 18
    • All submissions must be in PDF format, with a minimum size of 11”x17” and a maximum size of 36″x48″
    • One submission per person
    • All maps will be printed and displayed in the McEniry Lobby on GIS Day
    • Prizes: Best Map – $100 Amazon gift card; Second Place – $50 Amazon gift card
  • Presentation Competition (Graduate students only)
    • Format: 7-minute lightning talk
    • Step 1: Register your presentation title by November 15 (Registration Form: https://forms.gle/NQv8ATV4cSF8SZiF9)
    • Step 2: Send your presentation file (MS PowerPoint or PDF) to Dr. Youngseob Eum (yeum@charlotte.edu) by November 19
    • Prizes: Best Presentation – $100 Amazon gift card; Second Place – $50 Amazon gift card

Equipment Exhibition: Explore the latest in geospatial technology, featuring drones, GPS, and the AR Sandbox! Get hands-on with the AR Sandbox, where you can shape the terrain and watch real-time water flow dynamics. Dive in, create your own landscapes, and see science come alive!

Free Pizzas at Noon: Grab a slice, relax, and connect with GIS enthusiasts!

GIS Career Workshop: Learn about exciting career opportunities in GIS from GreenGo Energy! They’re offering paid internships for Spring and Summer 2025. Discover how GIS is used in renewable energy to create sustainable solutions.
