CAGIS at the EEGS Open House!

Categories: News

On October 1st, 2025, the Center for Applied GIScience (CAGIS) had the opportunity to showcase some of our exciting technologies at the EEGS Open House.

Our team demonstrated:
Augmented Reality (AR) Sandbox – allowing participants to explore topography and water flow in real time.
Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) – highlighting how UAVs (i.e., drone in the demonstration) are used in environmental monitoring, mapping, and spatial data collection.
Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) – showcasing ground-based robotics for field data collection and geospatial applications. Students had chances to get hands-on experience by controlling the vehicle themselves, discovering how robotics can be applied in real-world geospatial research.

It was a great chance to connect with students, faculty, and visitors, while sharing how geospatial science and emerging technologies shape our understanding of the world.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by—we loved your curiosity and enthusiasm!

We were proud to have Tianyang Chen, Yao Li, and Qifan Zhao representing CAGIS at the Open House, sharing our work and engaging with visitors. Many thanks to them for their help and contributions to the event!
